Bookreview: 'Forbidden' by Tabitha Suzuma

She is pretty and talented - sweet sixteen and never been kissed.
He is seventeen; gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future.
And now they have fallen in love.
But . . .
They are brother and sister.

Heartbreaking. Deeply sad. Differently romantic. But forbidden.

At what point do you give up – decide enough is enough? There is only one answer really. Never.“ - Lochan

When you think about forbidden love, what comes to your mind? An older man and an underage girl? A teacher and a student? But would you even think of a brother and a sister?
This book is about a whole new level of forbidden love. It goes beyond the usual understanding of something forbidden. Two siblings who love each other so deeply that they take all the risks.

Lochan and Maya grew up with three younger siblings, always taking care of them while their alcoholic mother was out working, drinking or celebrating. After their dad left the family for another woman, Maya and Lochan did all the work: school, home, siblings. When one day something changes between Lochan and Maya and they discover their feelings for each other.
A brother and a sister falling in love. It's against the law, against society's imagination of love, against everything that love should be.

It was pretty obvious that there couldn't be a happy ending to a story like this. The whole book is full of twisted emotions, affections and love. The process during the story is expected yet surprising. Tabitha Suzuma describes their emotions, feelings and affections in a refreshing, lovely way. It wasn't in a disgusting way, like you might think of when you hear about siblings being in love. It was so much more but at the same time it always comes back to that one fact: They are siblings! What they're doing is forbidden.
It's gut-wrenching and deeply sad, even if you knew all along that there'd barely be a happy ending. But the end of the book was surprising, and during the story I thought about a lot of possible endings and this was none of it! It leaves the reader thinking about how precious love is, how cruel it can be and what it can do to people.

She loves me too much. She loves me too much. I so wanted her love, all of it. I got my wish... and now we are both paying the price.“ - Lochan

A little too late

How often do you think you're a little too late? Too late to say the right words. Too late to apologize. Too late to make up for a mistake. Too late to say goodbye. Too late to love. Too late to tell people how you feel.
A lot can be ruined if you realize those things a little too late. Not telling someone how much they mean to you can ruin so much. I won't ever do that again, you might think. But you will. There will always be moments in your life when you realize certain things too late. Maybe it'll be just seconds or minutes. But sometimes it'll take you months or years to realize that it's too late. Too late to fix something. That things back then would've been worth fighting for, apologizing for but you didn't. It'll follow you everywhere. To know that you're the one to blame for the mess you're in. It won't be a mistake made by others, it's yours. You can go and try to fix it but there are too many things that can't be fixed. It won't do you any good to regret every moment in your life where that little too late ruined something good. If it would've been that good, you would've said the words in time, apologized in time, made up for your mistakes in time, said goodbye in time, loved in time, told the people how you felt in time.
There'll be new opportunities to make things right when they're meant to be.

Bookreview: 'Unbroken' by Melody Grace

"Mom always told me there are two kinds of love in this world: the steady breeze, and the hurricane. Emerson Ray was my hurricane…"

Juliet McKenzie was an innocent eighteen-year old when she spent the summer in Cedar Cove—and fell head over heels in love with Emerson. Complicated, intense Emerson, the local bad boy. His blue eyes hid dark secrets, and just one touch could set Juliet ablaze. Their love was demanding and all-consuming, but when summer ended, tragedy tore them apart. Juliet swore she’d never go back, and she’s kept that promise… Until now.

Four years later, Juliet’s done her best to rebuild the wreckage of her shattered life. She’s got a great boyfriend, and a steady job planned after she graduates. Returning to Cedar Cove to pack up her family’s beach house to prepare it for sale, Juliet is determined that nothing will stand in the way of her future. But one look from Emerson, and all her old desire comes flooding back. He let her go once, but this time, he’s not giving up without a fight. And Emerson fights dirty.

- No matter how hard someone tries to push you away, sometimes you need to push back even harder!-

Gut-wrenching. Hot. Surprising. Romantic. Unbroken.
I really wasn't sure if there'd be a happy ending for Emerson and Juliet and I'm not telling you the end, but I can tell you I was surprised.

Melody Grace has a great way to describe all their emotions that makes you feel like you're standing right beside them and it breaks your heart, in a positive way. That book is anything but boring, full of drama, love and misunderstandings.
And all those little reviews about what happened four years ago, wonderfully written, without giving too much away. It makes you want to read even faster to find out what really happened to Juliet's family and to her relationship with Emerson.

Sure, there are a lot of books about young love, struggling, out there, but this story is new and completely different. It wasn't just the 'girl-meets-boy-and-falls-for-him' kind of love story. It goes so much deeper. It's about that one unconditional, unique love, the one that changes your life forever, the one you just can't shake off, no matter how hard you try.

Juliet realizes that when she meets Emerson again after four years of not seeing him, and that fire's still burning inside of them. She tried so hard for four years to get over him but the moment she saw him again, she knew it would never happen. They have/had a lot of ups and downs, marked from unsaid words, betrayal and fear. But no one knows Juliet like Emerson does, even after all this time.
The passion between Emerson and Juliet is noticeable from the very first second when they meet again after four years. At first, I wasn't sure about Emerson, I mean he was a total jerk in that first scene but you can't help falling for him during all those coming scenes.
The one true love doesn't end just because the relationship once did.

Last but not least, I'd LOVE to read 'Unbroken' from Emerson's POV (wink, wink)!
SPOLIER ALERT!
I'd love to know what Emerson thought in that moment when he saw Juliet in that bar again for the first time after four years. What he felt every time he tried to push her away. And I'd love to get a glimpse about what he thought when he broke up with her for the first time.

Well, I'd say this is an awesome first book, written by Melody Grace. Can't wait to read her future books.

New things to come!

Well, I have a few new things in mind and first of all I will start writing bookreviews. Starting today!
I don't know how many books I read during the last year but I know there were a lot. I won't write a review about each one (that'd probably take a year), but there will be a few reviews over the next weeks. I'm starting with 'Unbroken' written by Melody Grace, which was just released yesterday. I read till 3am last night because I couldn't put it down.
At the moment (or during the last year) I mostly read New Adult Books, I love them. Some would say it's boring and all the same and yeah not every book I read was good but there were a few I just can't get outta my head so those will be the ones I will be reviewing. I'm not sure how many people will read those reviews but if you like that kind of books, feel free to recommend books to me or if you know people who read New Adult Books, share the link to my blog! Thanks!
Even though I'm German, I'm only reading books in english. I haven't read a german book since spring last year and that's why I'm only recommending and reviewing english books.
I hope there'll be people who'll read my reviews and as I said, feel free to share the link to my blog, it'd mean a lot to me!

Life Goes On!

Life is never easy. Never was and never will be. You're naïve if you really think it gets easier. There will always be problems you have to deal with. No matter how hard it is, you have to get through it, day by day.
I think it's true that life only puts you through the things you're strong enough to survive. Maybe you need to be strong for a long time and you'll feel like you can't take it anymore but I've learned that you can go through a lot without actually realizing how far you've made it. From time to time you'll forget how far you've come but one day all those things, the memories, will come back and you will realize what you're capable of. That you're strong enough to do this. That you can face the challenges life puts you in. Just don't give up!
No matter how hard it seems, it goes on! That's what you'll learn and it's true. It's what life teaches you. And no matter how hard it seems, sometimes you need to try harder. Try harder to hold on or try harder to let go. There will be things you regret doing but the things you didn't do will be the ones you really regret 'cause some won't come back. Take the chances life hands you.
You will get your heart broken and you will break hearts and you'll get through it. And sometimes, it doesn't matter how hard you try, it won't be enough. Be strong, try something new, be reckless. Live life.
You will disappoint people and people will disappoint you. Don't live your life always trying to reach other people's expectations. Try your best to make your days as good as possible.
Follow your dreams. Succeed or fail. Be satisfied or try again. Don't let people hold you back when you're willing to risk it all. You will lose people you love on the way and you'll meet new ones. Some may stay forever, others just for a while.
You will make bad decisions, put the wrong people first and hurt others. Follow your heart, live your life and make your dreams become your reality. Make mistakes, bad choices and fuck up. Don't regret everything that went wrong – learn from it. And no matter how bad it is, always remember: Life Goes On!
