Bookreview: 'Unbroken' by Melody Grace

"Mom always told me there are two kinds of love in this world: the steady breeze, and the hurricane. Emerson Ray was my hurricane…"

Juliet McKenzie was an innocent eighteen-year old when she spent the summer in Cedar Cove—and fell head over heels in love with Emerson. Complicated, intense Emerson, the local bad boy. His blue eyes hid dark secrets, and just one touch could set Juliet ablaze. Their love was demanding and all-consuming, but when summer ended, tragedy tore them apart. Juliet swore she’d never go back, and she’s kept that promise… Until now.

Four years later, Juliet’s done her best to rebuild the wreckage of her shattered life. She’s got a great boyfriend, and a steady job planned after she graduates. Returning to Cedar Cove to pack up her family’s beach house to prepare it for sale, Juliet is determined that nothing will stand in the way of her future. But one look from Emerson, and all her old desire comes flooding back. He let her go once, but this time, he’s not giving up without a fight. And Emerson fights dirty.

- No matter how hard someone tries to push you away, sometimes you need to push back even harder!-

Gut-wrenching. Hot. Surprising. Romantic. Unbroken.
I really wasn't sure if there'd be a happy ending for Emerson and Juliet and I'm not telling you the end, but I can tell you I was surprised.

Melody Grace has a great way to describe all their emotions that makes you feel like you're standing right beside them and it breaks your heart, in a positive way. That book is anything but boring, full of drama, love and misunderstandings.
And all those little reviews about what happened four years ago, wonderfully written, without giving too much away. It makes you want to read even faster to find out what really happened to Juliet's family and to her relationship with Emerson.

Sure, there are a lot of books about young love, struggling, out there, but this story is new and completely different. It wasn't just the 'girl-meets-boy-and-falls-for-him' kind of love story. It goes so much deeper. It's about that one unconditional, unique love, the one that changes your life forever, the one you just can't shake off, no matter how hard you try.

Juliet realizes that when she meets Emerson again after four years of not seeing him, and that fire's still burning inside of them. She tried so hard for four years to get over him but the moment she saw him again, she knew it would never happen. They have/had a lot of ups and downs, marked from unsaid words, betrayal and fear. But no one knows Juliet like Emerson does, even after all this time.
The passion between Emerson and Juliet is noticeable from the very first second when they meet again after four years. At first, I wasn't sure about Emerson, I mean he was a total jerk in that first scene but you can't help falling for him during all those coming scenes.
The one true love doesn't end just because the relationship once did.

Last but not least, I'd LOVE to read 'Unbroken' from Emerson's POV (wink, wink)!
SPOLIER ALERT!
I'd love to know what Emerson thought in that moment when he saw Juliet in that bar again for the first time after four years. What he felt every time he tried to push her away. And I'd love to get a glimpse about what he thought when he broke up with her for the first time.

Well, I'd say this is an awesome first book, written by Melody Grace. Can't wait to read her future books.
